Rani
Wearing a gifted kameez and necklace, leggings and arm cuff from Christmas Markets in Manchester.
Cuffs have been a love of mine for a while and I have long been on the lookout for the perfect arm cuff which I finally found about a week before Christmas. The only problem was the difficult decision between this silver elephant and its twin in gold... :)

Workin' The 9 To 5
^ Ordinary Boys and Lady Sovereign
Finally set myself up a Flickr account (http://www.flickr.com/photos/ifellfromlalaland/) and have linked it to the blog, resulting in bigger photos! Woo! Bear with me if the layout and picture sizes change a lot during the next week or so, I'm feeling the need for a revamp but on a laptop with a tiny screen it's a bit hard to tell what looks good.
Urban photography of real street scenes is also interesting me at the moment...did I tell you I rather recently possessed a desire to try out photojournalism.. :)

The new red
The sudden urge to wear red on Christmas Day but conveniently not packing anything red led me to grab the nearest shade possible - this bright magenta kameez and leggings, both sewn (but not embroidered) by my grandma.
Now it better be cold when I return to England because I haven't had my fill of coat weather yet and a winter where you overheat in one thin layer is just not the same. :)

Twins
I've often wondered, purely out of interest, how others would define my style. I ask my best friend about it constantly to the point of irritation. I do mix it up, both consicously and unconsiously but there are some garments/styles that seem to always suit my mood.
I asked my friend Iz to draw a caricature of me as a Christmas present. Not only does it look (almost scarily) like me, it's wearing my favourite things. Self-made plastic earrings, Urban Outfitters sweater, vintage denim jacket, Topshop snake-print leggings and leopard-print boots, friend's watch, my favourtie colour lips (a mix of purple and red) and of course, I'm holding Lije, my beloved camera. :)
Ps. Photo of drawing taken by L.

Gurrrl
Overdosing on Rookie leads to angsty american 90's teenager vibes. Hence my only item of plaid. I'm also beginning a fascination (my new word for obsession) with people's rooms...may embark on a photography project of my friends in their rooms...
Wearing a tartan skirt from my one and only trip to Scotland a few years ago, cut-up tshirt from a Kesha concert, abercrombie sweater, selfmade earrings, denim jacket made by mother and our collection of satchels.
Need to do something with that pipecleaner spiderweb...I love it. :)

A combination of terrible internet, busy-ness, darkness and somebody losing the memory card reader has resulted in terribly infrequent posting for which I apologise. On a brighter note, I discovered that the Blue Plant Aquarium walkway is a wonderful place to take slightly creepy photos.
I feel a gothic phase coming on. Sadly I'm off to India in a few days so this can't continue for long. (And posting may be sporadic. Trust, it annoys me as much as you - for the ones of you that care.)
Wearing mother's shirt, random ribbon, Topshop leggings, River Island fut coat. :)

Clash
As I was sat on the floor by the snow doing up my boots, a friend said to me, "your style is so..." and I suggested "clashing" but they continued, "cool". I do clash though (and get abuse from my friends for it regularly -.-) because patterns are so interesting.
Wearing a River Island coat, Topshop boots, and tailored salvar kameez from fabric bought in Hyderabad. (Just realised last time I blogged it, I was sitting on stairs too. Wierd.) :)

The world was gonna roll me
^Smash Mouth
Haven't felt like of taking photos for a couple of days because I hurt my foot and my crutches are such a hassle. It's now better (and I refuse to use the crutches any longer) but I wouldn't mind taking photos with them...if I can find an appropriately industrial background... a big if.
(Yes, the skateboard is mine. No, I can't skateboard but I wish I could.)
Wearing an abercrombie top, mom's sweater, Asos scarf, River Island pants and I's converse. I was told I looked "relatively normal" in this outfit which I found amusing. Let it be known that I turn to abercrombie if I try to layer sensibly (which is entertainingly rare). :)

Variations on a year
Hey December. Man I love winter and Christmastime. Pretty lights, layers of clothes (meaning you can wear all your favourite things at once!), warm fires, dark nights and it's own genre of music. The top photo is an experiment with blurring to try and create depth of field which worked interestingly. I'm wearing many of my current favourite things - Topshop snake print leggings (my LIFE. I'm considering investing in at least another pair of snake pants, and possibly branching out into leopard or zebra print pants), Primark gilet/jacket/thing, I's converse, dad's sweater, mom's bag, and friends' jewellery. :)
