Jardin
Some quick shots of a "garden"-themed collar that I made the other day after planning it for weeks (note: the gold bees come from some Asos earrings that I temporarily dismembered since I can't find nice metal insect beads anywhere). It actually turned out more pastelly and cute that I thought; I had invisioned it with beaded/jewelled creepy-crawlies but that plan had to be put on hold when I discovered I didn't have any seed beads. So expect a more exotic collar in the future, but for now, let's be sweet and rosy. :)

Comme des...
tshirt from Ebay
skirt from Singapore
A bright red skirt and a sarcastic slogan to lift my mood on a dreary, rainy, "revision" day. This is my favourite tshirt at the moment because I neither like nor understand the hype around Comme des Garcons (even thought my best friend says Comme des Fuckdown is actually an A$AP Rocky thing, as if I know who that is) and loose slogan tees are always a good thing. :)

I want candy
diamante chandelier earrings from Rusholme
orange and black horn earrings (minus large jewels) from Asos
mother's sweater
orange flower and leaf earrings made by me
gold sun earrings from Topshop
silver and green earrings and matching necklace from Rusholme
I'm wearing orange lipstick, Topshop nail varnish,
H&M necklace and father's top
green and transparent triangle earrings made by me
peach crop top (actually a sari blouse) from India
I spent the other day tweaking my jewellery collection and realised that dark green/khaki with orange/bright peach is my favourite colour combination at the moment, espcially when with metallics. It's also the colours I'll be wearing to prom in just over a month (hint hint). So spring-like but with just enough darkness to not be twee. :)

Gatsby (the Great)
vintage jacket
sunflower top from Van Gogh museum
American Apparel disco pants
Urban Outfitters shoes
H&M bag
self-made earrings
Because I'm a complete idiot, I managed to break my beautiful lens. I should get it back within two weeks but the sadness and guilt is not exactly motivating me to blog... Anyway, today I'm going to see The Great Gatsby, which I have been looking forward to for months since Baz Luhrmann is the best director ever. My thought process was "the costumes are going to be so fabulous I'll feel underdressed, so better wear something glitzy". :)
Ps. I don't know why this didn't post yesterday like it was supposed to, sorry.

50s
mother's shirt, cardigan and necklace
gifted earrings
vintage brooch
lace parasol from Gozo
Topshop sunglasses (on I)
Photos of me taken by friends
So Tuesday was "eras" day. I was considering going 90s but decided it wouldn't involve much dressing up as I'd just be wearing my normal clothes, but all at once. So both me and my friend, I, dressed up as the 50s. I was the sugar sweetie to her pin-up girl. Sadly there's only one photo of my full outfit but I'm 50s inspired now, so I'm sure I'll be wearing something similar soon. We were also joined by L in a 50s house dress with music notes on (!!) and matching accessories. :)

Clueless
old headband
Eastpak bagpack
Topshop crop top
skirt from Scotland
mother's jacket
Topshop socks
Urban Outfitters shoes
This is my last week ever of school so to celebrate, we're dressing up in different themes every day. Today was characters from films, Disney etc so I went as Cher (the blonde) from Clueless. I wore something similar last year but that was more Heather Chandler than Cher Horrowitz. If you can't tell, I love 80s/90s high school films. :)

Manic Pixie Dream Girls
I'm wearing:
Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros tshirt
H&M skirt
UO shoes
Me and my friend I in unintentionally matching outfits, plus a chocolate bar that we were in the process of demolishing. At least 2 other people were also wearing the same colour scheme on the same day; popular choice.
In my last outfit post I (accidentally) edited a photo so it looked like it had been sprinkled with pixie dust and I liked it so rolled with it. There has been a lot of internet talk recently about Manic Pixie Dream Girls and how they are a negative stereotype in films that reinforce the idea that women exist soleley for men. That isn't to say that I don't admire these fictional characters; I do (for particular reasons). I like Zooey Deschanel and her characters including Summer Finn and Jess Day and I don't think it's fair to accuse a fictional character of being too one-dimensional (um remember, they're not real so don't have to be realistic). I also like the phrase "Manic Pixie Dream Girl" and so, to quote Rebecca from the Clothes Horse, I wouldn't be "really offended [if] someone thought I embody the term, more bemused by the ridiculous notion that any woman would fit that definition.". :)

Lala Land's 10 piece spring/summer essentials guide
While I surive my last few days of containment, here's a list I put together inspired by Madeline Pendleton
1. Short dungarees/denim playsuit. Images - Natalie Off Duty, via Tumblr
2. Crop tops, preferably jersey and 90’s looking. My favourites styles are rollneck and sleevless (but with wide shoulders like a tshirt). Images - via Tumblr
3. Matching crop top and skirt/shorts set. And/or matching blazer and shorts/skirt set. Definitely printed. Images - Illustrated people top and skirt via Asos, Natalie Off Duty, Freak of Nature top and skirt via Asos
4. Flatforms, preferably a pair in white and a pair in black. One of them being strappy sandals. Images - platform Converse and Doc Marten sandals via Tumblr
5. Easy jumpsuit, preferably black or with a calm print. Image - Topshop jumpsuit via ChicMuse
6. Short-sleeve blouse, preferably salmon pink, light khaki, pale blue etc. Images - via Topshop, Asos, Topshop
7. Short hair. Mine's currently a few inches below shoulder level but I'm tempted to do more snipping. Images - via Tumblr, Jason Lee Parry
8. Men's tshirts. Of favourite bands, with favourite/hilarious/generally ironc slogans, with dinosaurs. To chop the sleeves off, to cut into crop tops, to keep oversized and baggy to tuck in; whatever as long as they're soft (and DO NOT have cap sleeves, my pet hate). Images - Jason Lee Parry, Stevie Dance by Oracle Fox
9. Head/hair accessories. That means scrunchies, hats, novelty clips, you name it. Images - Girl With The Flower, via Tumblr
10. Patterned scarves. To use as normal scarves, headscarves to keep your hair up, shawls, something to sit on, something to sneakily blindfold a friend with etc. Image - Fashiontoast
And one for luck. (Ok, because I counted wrong.)
11. Surrealism. Yeah. Anything a bit weird, and especially anything a bit trippy. Images - via Topshop, via Tumblr, my own wearing Asos sunglasses
Feel free to ignore all that's written above (I probably would if I was reading this on someone else's blog); your style is your own. :)

They don't call them lovers in high school, Leland
self-made necklace and earrings
abercrombie tshirt
old school blazer
Asos skirt
I've become obsessed with Twin Peaks recently, hence the title. Also (unrelated) I've been dressing quite simply and wearing unsual amounts of black. To match my black soul, of course. And because black is the colour that is most resistant to paint stains. :)
