Young hearts run free

^Kym Mazelle (from Romeo + Juliet. I love film music.)

This was a few days ago on the way to L's house with A and it was getting dark, we were walking and I'm not the best with directions even though I've lived here for over ten years. So A was stressing out and worried we were gonna be late so it took some effort to convince her to take these. But she did eventually unlike L who feels 'stupid' and that it's 'embarassing'. No it's not. And I'm used to getting wierd looks so now it's just fun.

Wearing a H&M jersey dress, Topshop socks, New Look heels, Fabindia earrings and Primark sleeveless aviator jacket. I practically never shop in Primark (although I seem to wear my stuff from there a lot. Hmm..) but as soon as I saw this I knew I had to have it. The only question whether I should get in in grey or black. And the best part is - I realised later that the day before I had been subconsiously lusting over practically the exact same jacket in Topshop.. which is about £160 more! I was very happy. And it's very warm.

Time to run off to another netball match now. Two wins so far! :)

Nom time, it's winter

What is it about winter that makes me want to nom on velvet and sparkles? And everybody else too by the looks of it. Although I think (and hope) velvet won't be as big this year as it was last year. Why? Because less popularity = more for me! And I'm trying to convince my mother to help me make some velvet shorts and legwarmers like 5 inch and up but minus the cutting stage. (Most sadly my mother doesn't trust me with large amounts of material.)

Alexander Wang velvet legwarmers.

Sandra from 5 inch and up's DIY'ed version.

Plus I am preparing for my trip to Russiaaaaa! Although physically packing for it is making me upset because I only have five days and that means I can only really realistically take one coat and one or two jumpers, I am having muchos fun imagining outfits.

Also, hopefully tonight my mom and I will start work on a long camel silk skirt that has been in my head forever. I want to take it to Russia so we must finish it by Thursday!!

Plus, aren't these shoes just the nommiest things you've ever seen? I've liked them for a while but this is the best picture I've found. It's from Sea of Shoes. :)

Inspiration - Cirque du freak

Above photos not mine, from various websites.

I've been in a bit of a wierd mood lately. Not uninspired - au contraire, I have been extremely inspired - but more.. inside my own head. So that translates into less actual photo taking and more imagining and dreaming.

Over the years my mother and I have amassed quite a collection of.. unusual clothing. These bright gold metallic leggings are my mom's and she also has them in silver (which I was looking for but couldn't find so wore these instead). But my skintight white lycra catsuit (originally a dance costume, don't ask) beats it hands down. Also wearing my dad's sweater, glitter gold hat I left a party a few years ago with and L's really old and beat up Converse which I looooove so I stole from her locker. Don't worry, she's aware of this and not too bothered. And I wrote my favourite quote on my arm which is becoming a Friday morning French lesson ritual; 'Those who cherish [a beautiful vision,] a lofty ideal in their hearts will one day realise it'. :)

Ps. And the painting is one I did about 5 years ago. Now I feel old. And it's a camel just in case you can't tell.

Pps. Thank you so much to my three new followers! You've made (what's left of) my day!

Mehndi

Sorry for not posting for so long (6 days as A kindly informed me) but I have been horrendously busy. At the weekend I had a wedding mehndi (henna) ceremony and an MUN conference (so I couldn't go to the actual wedding). Here're some pictures from the mehndi.

All of the dance girls (that were there).

Me and the bride who my family've known for years from dance.

The bride's mendhi - isn't it beautiful! And it had glitter in it too!

I wore a salvar kameez that my mom made and my aunt embroidered the neckline, assorted jewellery including my favourite jingle-y collisa (not sure if that's how you spell it in English but it means anklets), Kurt Geiger heels and beautiful Fabindia bag. I also spent the whole weekend wearing red lipstick which I have decided that I should wear more often. I also want orange and purple. :)

Me and T, the groom's sister who I know from school.

Fly little birdie, high up in the sky

Just a quick blend to show the softer, freer side of birds - apparently birds are not an unpopular motif of mine. I'm going to incorporate birds into my new art preoject on Surrealism and dreams since they have been in my dreams recently so expect lots of them. I'm sure there's a story about a giant bird who carries a person to their nest somewhere.. :)

Tramps like us, baby we were born to run

^Bruce Springsteen

In love with this jacket. I've had it for absolutely years and at the weekend decided to chop off the sleeves, fray them and paint a bird on the back. Now obsessed with birds, especially birds beating their wings about to land and eagles. Especially eagles about to land.

Also wearing a Santana top from the concert (too big and I've been living in it since I got it), leather gloves from Topshop, lots of assorted bracelets and neckalces and a velvet skirt my mom made. Talking of velvet - also obsessed and we have loooads in the house so expect a whole load of velvet stuff (but not this weekend because I am sooo busy).

Seriously obsessed. (Pictures below from Google.) :)

Sultans of Swing

^Dire Straits

Last night I went to see Santana in concert. It was amazing and I loved the vibe - especially how the average age of the audience was about fifty haha. I wore an American Apparel skirt/dress, Urban Outfitters Velvet biker jacket, Ostwald Helgason leggings and DM's. I think Ostwald Helgason is my concert thing - I wore my dress to Gaga. But these are definately the best leggings ever. I'm in love with galaxy and star print at the moment!

And this is a random little swan I found in a drawer in my bedroom and decided to string on a ribbon. It's so cute. :)

Edit: Haha I'm such a bad photographer I forgot to post a picture of the concert. I didn't actually take any photos because my dad had the camera so this is like the only decent one (no offence if he's reading this).

Carlos Santana is on the far right on the guitar and the screen is him too. I really don't have words to describe how incredible he is. I love my dad for letting me steal his CD's. Now I'm just waiting for a Bruce Springsteen or a 10,000 Maniacs tour!
