Wish list - Christmas

Miss Selfridge embellished dress
Topshop fluffy cropped sweater
Topshop fluffy bag
Topshop green full skirt
Cheap Monday cube boots
Topshop structured jumpsuit
Damien Hirst x Alexander McQueen scarf
Meadham Kirchhoff x Topshop Courtney dress
Topshop fluffy sandals
Meadham Kirchhoff x Topshop skirt
Topshop fluffy check skirt

Normally at this time of the year my wish list would be miles long but.. I actually kinda struggled putting this together. Here is a selection of things I would love to receive. Basically pointy toes, fluffy anything and anything that'll make me feel like a princess Most are not seriously on my list because they are too impractical (fluffy bag, fluffy strappy sandals, I'm looking at you) or waaaay too expensive (hey McQueen, why price Hirst's scarves so high when he doesn't even make them himself) but hey, a girl can dream.  :)

shirt with fan pleats and shirt with cut-outs (worn as trousers) made by me

These are the results of a fashion project I was set a couple of week ago. We started with two men's white shirts and had to incorporate geometric shapes and folding techniques into them. Thanks to my friend K for modelling my shirts, and photos by me, as always. :)

The Chain

ˆFleetwood Mac

self-made head chain
Asos (mens) scarf
vintage suede jacket from Australia
mother's cardigan
Topshop skirt

The light in this courtyard high above the city is always perfect. One day I'll get that lovely purple that spreads during sunset. I've been very into headwear lately so when I saw a head chain on Asos, I "pft"-ed, reached for my pliers and stash of chains and ten minutes later I had this. It's not obvious on the photos but there's also a chain on top of my parting (which explains why the clasp at the front is not centred; my parting isn't centred). Not only does this head chain make me feel like a badass goddess, it has the added advantage of holding by hair down, thereby keeping my ears toasty and annoying wisps of hair out of my face. :)

Winter sea

More from Brighton's seafront, an ideal day amidst the hectic-ness right now. :)

Adventure day

vintage dress
Urban Outfitters jumper
bag from Singapore
self-made necklace and hair clips

Today I went to Brighton to visit the sea (and some other stuff), and I fell in love with the city. :)

At the bottom of everything

^Bright Eyes

Gap cardigan
Asos skirt
spider brooch from Manchester Christmas markets
star clip made by me

After a minor disaster involving my beloved pink skirt this morning I changed into my (equally beloved) wipe-clean vinyl skirt with a new little critter. Have I told you about how much I love insect jewellery before? Well, I'm telling you again. :)

November sparkle

Zara hat
old fake fur mini cape
vintage jacket
American Apparel disco pants
Doc Martens
mother's bag from India

Nothing like a bit of sparkle to fill these short days. I can't believe it's November already, September and October completely passed me by. I've got some time to catch up before December but hey, why not start the Christmas spirit early? I wore this to visit the Christmas markets in Manchester (first time so far this year). I was  going to wear my gold disco pants but I thought that might be a bit too much gold and a bit too much disco for the general public to handle so I went for black instead. I'd also like to point out that the reason I look a bit like a hunchback is that I was wearing a thick jumper under my paddded-shoulder jacket. :)

Where have you been

^ Manchester Orchestra

Next jumpsuit
grandmother's scarf
mother's silk shirt
self-made chain harness

Maybe it's because it's now cold outside or maybe it's because I'm in the freeing environment of art school but I've started wearing a lot more on my head. Scarves, scarves-as-turbans, hats; even Miley Cyrus-esque buns the other day (lots of fun and surprisingly practical). :)

Remember Our Heart

^ Alexander (Ebert)

Asos cardigan
old tshirt
self-made collar (from scratch!)
American Apparel denim skirt
River Island loafers

There's a flat bit of roof outside my bedroom window and I used to sneak onto it every now and then just to feel the thrill. The roof leaked earlier this year and I've been scared to go on it since we had it replaced but today it was fully sanctioned for artistic purposes (not just outfit photos). :)

We'll never be royals

American Apparel disco pants
Asos jacket
Topshop boots
bag from Fabindia (plus chain)
Sekonda watch
Topshop eye pendant
vintage beetle brooch
self-made spider brooch

But we can sure as hell dress like them if we want. These were taken on the day of Halloween and I started off by getting out all my creepy accessories but then it turned into a grab-the-nearest-favourites-and-run-out-the-door kind of day so.... not so spooky after all. Except the tiny spider. :)

My thoughts are far away

American Apparel disco pants
mother's cape
Topshop shirt
Underground creepers

My disco pants rarely get blogged which is weird because I wear them at least twice a week, for anything from a night out to something to wear around the house (because they are super slick and comfy too). Given how much I wear my black disco pants, I invested in some gold ones a few weeks ago and already love them to bits too. They're surprisingly neutral for, well, a bright shiny gold and a brilliant match for the beautiful orange leaves around right now. :)

Comfy living

Urban Outfitters jumper
Cheap Monday denim skirt
River Island loafers

What I've been living in recently; a better look at the outfit from a recent post. I've been waiting for the days to get cool enough to wear this skirt again; I still can't get over its unexpected perfection. I'm a bit obsessed with these loafers… I never used to be a shoe girl but I've somehow amassed a decent collection of black shoes. But I count these as essential because they're black AND white, yeah. Also they're pointy toed, something I have been sadly lacking in the shoe cupboard. :)

Friday, 1 November 2013

mother's blouse
old ribbons
eye pendant made by me
eye earrings from India

I didn't have time to take full outfit photos so you can just imagine the blue gingham skirt, white socks and black heels that went with this top half. I was a doll for Halloween! I was going to blood-ify myself but realised I looked pretty damn creepy as is. :)
