I was feeling a simple black day yesterday but somehow ended up a bit "street". I was bored at one point in the day, so volunteered to let my friend N dress me up for a photoshoot… which involved many face-fulls of talcum powder and plastic orange eyebrows (a relatively ordinary day at art school). Surprisingly, this co-ordinated rather well with what I was already wearing so cue outfit photos with orange eyebrows. They look damn cool and were also weirdly comfortable considering they were sellotaped to my head. New trend? Maybe not, but it has encouraged me to try out eyebrows coloured with eyeshadow, something that I've been thinking about… :)

H&M trench coat (eyes drawn by me)
Gap cardigan
MK x Topshop skirt
Asos tights
Tatty Devine necklace from Isabella Blow exhibition
Zara hat
H&M bag
Doc Martens

I bought a few pieces from the Meadham Kirchhoff x Topshop collection, intending to choose one to keep and return the rest… but I fell in love and, er, never got round to returning any… While the dresses are made of pure polyester (eugh, seriously MK?), this skirt is suede and Mongolian fur (yeah, not sure how I feel about this, don't bother asking) so it's sooooo soft. But the best part is the pentagram buttons! :)

Ps. I'm not sure why I couldn't post this last night, sorry!

self-made scarf

Ok when a scarf as distinctive as this one is featured on the blog in three straight outfit posts, you can tell I'm a little obsessed. It's so warm and fabulous and goes with anything (probably because it's the same colour as everything). Today was one of those roll-out-of-bed-and-pile-on-dramatic-layers days. :)

Uniqlo long-sleeved top
vintage sparkly crop top
Asos PVC skirt
platform Converse

I'm in the middle of interview week so everything is rather frenzied at the moment. Anyway... this sparkly top is quite scratchy and uncomfortable to wear (not to mention cold at the moment) so I don't wear it very often but I realised I could wear it over another top (duh) and I think it looks pretty damn fly. Worn with my wipe-clean PVC skirt and little hair buns, I definitely felt like a space cadet. I think this is a recurring theme and I'm perfectly fine with that. :)

How to be awkward

I'd say happy Valentine's Day, but both celebrating and hating on the holiday are irritating so whatever, happy Friday. I just like wearing pink, purple and hearts. My mother has always been very against hearts so I never particularly cared for them either, until I re-found this DIY by Marlena for Rookie and thought why not cute-ify an old shirt. I wore the awkward-space-babe-valentine ensemble yesterday and today I actually spent wearing burnt fabric and huge knits (for art obviously), but the pink outfit is what I was wearing spiritually. :)

What's that coming over the hill?

Miley buns (is that a thing? Please let's make it a thing), glittery tights and rainbow fur to keep me happy on a Monday. I made this scarf the other day, inspired by the Meadham Kirchhoff x Topshop Mongolian stole. Not having a spare £150 (or an affinity for real fur), I didn't particularly like it at the time, but after seeing it appear on a few blogs, I suddenly decided I NEEDED a multicoloured fur scarf in my life, as soon as possible. I saw this fake fur in the local fabric shop a couple of weeks ago when I was shopping with my mother, who laughed at me and called me a 5 year old. When I went back a few days later, it was gone, but the next week it was back. Score 1 for me. :)

all clothes K's
except my Topshop skirt

Here are a few photos I took of my friend K in the abandoned building I visited the other week for my existentialism project. I wanted her to dress in a 40s/50s style and the only non-blaack long skirt I could find was this pale pink one. While not exactly being the most existential colour you can think of, I think the pretty colours of the outfit make the horror less stereotypically depressing and more… more like a Hitchcock movie actually, hence the post title. :)

Inspiration - Regress

Barbie collage by me (actually a Photoshop accident but hey it looks good)
illustrations in pen, water-colour and Photoshop (plus diamante stars) by me
Bell's Fashion, the Glamourai, Fashion Pirate, Asos, Chanel SS14,  Prada SS14 BTS

This post is a couple of days overdue because I've been busy catching up on sleep and preparing for uni interviews. But yeah, anyway.

Thoughts:
- My current art project is on existentialism and I am absolutely loving the irony of wearing pink, fluffy, glitzy, girly things while sitting in front of a table filled with angsty pictures, ripping up materials and stabbing them with pins. Everyone else must find it a bit incongruous.
- I'm always inspired by artists and work I'm studying, which right now is mainly Egon Schiele, Prada SS14 (actually, just all of Prada) and Maison Martin Margiela Artisanal AW13/SS14.
- Multi-coloured fur coats, where have you been all my life? Why do I not own one? This needs to be rectified somehow. (How hard can they be to make, eh? EH? ...This could go horribly wrong.)
- Red with accents of baby blue. Lilac/purple with accents of red. Winning colour combinations. Also purple just generally. Purple is my favourite colour so it's pretty devastating how few purple clothes I have.
- Time to raid my closet to pimp the shit out of some jeans/plain pastel-ly clothes. When I get some free time that is… (never).
- I should be more adventurous with my makeup. Multicoloured faces anyone? The main reason I don't is that I get up at 6am on school days and at that time I am barely alive let alone ready to multicolour-ify myself. (I should invest in some interesting eyeshadows. Or just use facepaint. Yeah, facepaint is easier to get off.)
- I have suddenly got into illustrating cute gurls as a late night de-stressor and I'm really enjoying it! I hope I can continue this and get better since I've never tried to illustrate 'cos I always thought I wouldn't be good at it. I guess art school has subconsciously taught me that there is no wrong way to draw and that I can draw anything.
- Also refer to this post from nearly a year ago which I feel is super-relevant again! (But with less of the psychedelic-ness.)

I've been thinking about my current style but I'll save those thoughts for next post. :)
